The CHRONOLOGIC™ System was designed and is used by DAVIS Consulting Group, Inc. consultants to assist them in expediting the development of project strategies and schedules by project teams. The result is a system which allows persons with or without prior scheduling experience to quickly and easily convert project discussions into preliminary schedules, then refine those schedules through as many iterations as desired. The ease with which modifications can be made encourages team members to suggest improvements and test alternatives. The resulting project schedules have a degree of participant understanding and commitment not easily attained through any other system.
The Completed Project The completed CHRONOLOGIC™ schedule display may be used directly for as long as desired; direct copies at half-size can also be made on a large electrostatic copier, which can be found at most major reproduction facilities. The CHRONOLOGIC™ schedule can also be input to a CAD system so that multi-colored plots of the schedule are available and the schedule display can continue to be flexible throughout the project. This CAD-based version of the schedule can be prepared and maintained in house or by DAVIS Consulting Group on a 48-hour turnaround basis. Do you have to use a computerized system? Primavera©, .... Microsoft Project© ....? The CHRONOLOGIC™ Schedule can easily be the only schedule format used for the project. If, however, circumstances dictate that a computerized schedule must be provided, the CHRONOLOGIC™ Schedule should be developed and used as an input document to a system such as Primavera© or Microsoft Project©. This will assure that logic is input correctly and that the resulting computerized schedule says what you intend. Without this graphic logic development step, computerized schedules routinely carry hidden logic errors, which create erroneous schedules, which are not recognized until damage has been done. DAVIS Consulting Group can take your CHRONOLOGIC™ Schedule and input it into a Primavera© or Microsoft Project© format. DAVIS Consulting Group will provide you the database so that you can maintain the project. Or DAVIS Consulting Group can maintain your files and provide the updating processing, based on status information provided by you. Completed CHRONOLOGIC™ displays may be sent to DAVIS Consulting Group for color plotting on DAVIS Consulting Group’s CASCAD-E™ System for project scheduling. The
Materials
Activity
gauges are cut to length based on the activity duration and the
time scale selected. Activity descriptions are placed on the
gauges. These steps are done in advance, or during the Scheduling
Conference. The Scheduling Conference focuses on the placement of
activity gauges on the base sheet in time slots which reflect
predecessor/successor relationships (including lead/lag factors),
resource flows, simultaneity restrictions, allocation of float,
and intuitive concerns. Activities and precedence connections are
easily repositioned as alternatives are examined.
The
CHRONOLOGIC™
System is designed to be carried easily to any location in which Scheduling
Conferences need to be held. This facilitates the involvement of
key project team members who cannot easily leave their assigned
project work locations. All material needed can be transported in
the
CHRONOLOGIC™ carrying case, which meets carry-on requirements for most major
